UTAR is proud to announce that Prof Dr Lee Voon Hsien (李文仙教授) and Assoc Prof Dr Leong Lai Ying (梁丽莹副教授) from the Teh Hong Piow Faculty of Business and Finance (THP FBF) have been listed among the “Best Business and Management Scientists in Malaysia” by Research.com in its 2025 rankings. This recognition celebrates their significant contributions to the fields of business, management, and information systems, further affirming UTAR’s growing impact in academic research.

UTAR is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Dr Hew Jun Jie from the Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) for winning the prestigious Malaysia Research Star Award in the Researchers Cluster category. The award was presented by the Ministry of Higher Education on 13 February 2025 at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel. The award acknowledges researchers who have made significant contributions to their fields through high-impact publications and ground-breaking studies.

Two academics from the Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF), Dr Hew Jun Jie and Assoc Prof Dr Choong Yuen Onn, were recognised at the Emerald Literati Awards 2024 for their exceptional contributions to the academic peer review process. The awards ceremony, organised by Emerald Publishing, was held on 23 October 2024 at UTAR Kampar Campus.

It was a proud moment for UTAR Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) Master of Philosophy student Britney Bong Sue Fun when she was awarded the Diamond Award in the Final Year Project and Postgraduate: Research and Innovation Poster Competition (FYPP: RIPC) Series 2 / 2023.
Eight researchers from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) have been included in Stanford University’s list of top 2% scientists worldwide. The list was prepared by a team of experts led by Prof John Ioannidis from Stanford University and published by Elsevier BV recently.

Faculty of Business and Finance academics, namely Assoc Prof Dr Lee Voon Hsien, Hew Jun Jie, and Loh Xiu Ming received the “Most Cited Articles” award by the Journal of Computer Information Systems (Taylor and Francis) for their research titled Towards a Cashless Society: The Imminent Role of Wearable Technology. The research was co-authored with UCSI University academics Dr Garry Tan Wei Han and Prof Ooi Keng Boon.

The research titled “Determinants of Medical Tourist’s Destination Loyalty: Evidence from Malaysia” was recently awarded as one of “ICCB 2021 Best Papers” in the 4th International Conference on Communication and Business (ICCB) 2021, organised by LPSR Communication and Business Institute, Indonesia, from 9 to 10 March 2021, via ZOOM.

Produced by Faculty of Business and Finance academics Assoc Prof Dr Lee Voon Hsien, Dr Leong Lai Ying and Hew Jun Jie, the research papers were also awarded the “hot papers” title by Clarivate Analytics.

TWO academics from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) recently won recognition from Elsevier USA for their research papers. Loh Xiu Ming and Hew Jun Jie – both of whom served at the varsity’s Faculty of Business and Finance (FBF) – co-authored the papers with UTAR Master of Business Administration (Corporate Management) alumnae Susan Lew and Yan Liya. Their paper titled “The disruptive mobile wallet in the hospital industry: An extended mobile technology acceptance model” was awarded “Top Downloaded Article 2020” by Elsevier’s Technology in Society.
